Old Low Light, Fish Quay North Shields
exhibitions
This Grade 2 listed building at the heart of North Shields Fish Quay offers a unique experience to explore 900 years of local maritime heritage. Visitors can learn about the life of North Shields folks through the experiences of real people and the objects they used.
In the Heritage Gallery you can find out how the River Tyne sustained not only a whole community but contributed to the economy of the region.
We designed the exhibition panels in collaboration with interpretive designers GBDM, shopfitters 3DR and heritage consultant Rachel Hunter.
The stairwell features fantastic illustrations by Anna Casey displaying the development of North Shields and impact of the river from the days of Vikings to modern industry.
