Book launch

It was brilliant to attend the launch of Roger Illsley’s book “Wrighting Wrongs” at Waterstones this evening. It’s been an honour to be involved in this project which tells inspirational story of Frances (Fan) Wright and her family who were merchants in Dundee in the 17th century.
Fan had such a strong sense of social injustice from a young age and went on to campaign for women’s rights and against slavery later in her life. She was the first woman to have a play performed on Broadway, and also wrote a travelogue describing her adventures travelling from New York to Niagra Falls on horseback!
Thanks to a number of local sponsors and to Waterstones who have reduced their commission on the book sales, £23 from each book will go to Dundee Carers and other local charities. I think Fan would be very proud of what we have achieved!

Fan Wright's story deserves exactly this kind of platform. For anyone producing documentary or archival content like this, one small but important step before publishing photos or footage from events like book launches: blurring faces of attendees who haven't formally consented. A tool like blur face in photo handles that automatically, keeping the memory shareable while respecting everyone's privacy.
I enjoyed reading this. Practical online tools are always worth exploring, and an instagram reel downloader has definitely made saving useful Instagram content more convenient and organized.
What an inspiring book launch and a meaningful way to support local charities. Stories of remarkable women deserve to be shared. Reading about history and travel always reminds me of discovering amazing destinations, including the Best Beaches Near Barcelona.
